Gould | Shop Watch Radio Schemes

Gould Electronics are responsible for over 15 open channel shop watch retail Anti-theft schemes across the south west, providing instant communication between retailers, local police and CCTV control rooms.

Schemes already in operation include -

Liskeard, Truro, Falmouth, Helston, St Austell, Newquay, Bodmin, Chard, Bideford, Morwenstow, Appledor, Torrington, Minehead, Cleveland, Nailsea and Braunton.

Braunton's Community PMR Radio Link went live in July 2005.

Thirty local businesses and licensees signed up to participate in the new radio link partnership with the police. Shoplifting costs retailers in the UK around £3 billion a year. Shop watch communication schemes help tackle the problem.

Scheme endorsement

Braunton's Police Sgt. Andy Brock said: "Braunton is one of the safest communities in the country. The shop watch initiative shows that the police, local businesses and Safer North Devon are working hard to ensure that it stays that way for workers, visitors and residents.

Recommendation

Carol Harding of Safer North Devon, the organisation that helped fund Braunton’s radio link, said: "Experience from other schemes we have introduced in Bideford, Ilfracombe and Westward Ho! already shows how effective a community radio link can be."
